For the past three years, I have been undergoing appointments, diagnostic tests, and medicated cycles in hopes of building a family. Each step has come with significant costs that I have had to pay out of pocket. These expenses have taken a huge toll, both financially and emotionally.

Despite doing everything I can, IVF remains completely out of reach for me because of the overwhelming cost. What makes this even harder is knowing that Alberta is the only province in Canada that offers no financial assistance for IVF. Families like mine are left behind, while people in other provinces have access to some level of support. It feels unfair that something as important and life-changing as starting a family depends on where you live.

This journey has been incredibly difficult. Infertility already brings stress, grief, and uncertainty. Adding the financial burden on top of that has made it feel almost impossible. My greatest hope is to have the chance to grow my family, but without support, that hope feels further and further away.

IVF is not a choice—it is often the only medical option available. Having funding or assistance in Alberta would mean that more families could pursue their dream of having children without being crushed by financial barriers.
