Subject: Fertility Funding in Alberta

Minister LaGrange,

I am writing to you to voice my concerns about the lack of fertility funding in Alberta. 1 in 6 Albertans struggle with infertility and others require access to Assisted Reproductive Technology to build their families as well, including oncology patients.

Infertility is a medically diagnosed disease, yet Alberta is one of only two provinces in the country that offers no public funding to assist the more than 250,000 residents who need to build their family through fertility care.

Given the exorbitant costs associated with In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) and other fertility treatments, the dream of starting a family for many Albertans has become unattainable. The average cost of one round of IVF treatment in Alberta is roughly $20,000, and those who need IVF often require 2-3 treatments to be successful.

Albertans should not have to take on massive financial burden to build their families. Developing a made-in-Alberta solution would put our province on par with the rest of the country and assist all Albertans aspiring to build their families.

Thank you for your time and consideration concerning this matter.

Sincerely,

Thank you so much for adding your voice to the topic of funding assistance for fertility care. If you would like to receive more information on how you can advocate for those who require Assisted Reproductive Technology to build their families, enter your email in the form below.
